Sample Itineraries

We have put together several itineraries to help our guests and other visitors to Flemington and Hunterdon County NJ plan their trip. You can read details and see photos of some of our excursions to these spots on our facebook page and in our blog.

Arrival - Thursday

  • 4 - 7 pm - Arrive and check-in to Main Street Manor B&B

  • 7 pm - Dinner downtown at one of our great casual restaurants

Day 1, Friday

  • 9 am - Enjoy your first delicious farm to table breakfast here at the inn.

  • 10 am - Take an easy hike through beautiful perennial gardens at the Hunterdon County Arboretum

  • following a 5 minute drive via County roads. Once you're there take in a variety of display gardens while on a gentle stroll along two miles of trail through mixed hardwood and evergreen woods, and along a boardwalk through a rich wetland alive with skunk cabbage, cattails and ferns.

  • 12 noon - After your trek, have lunch in the village of Clinton and enjoy the waterfall & great views of Clinton's well-known Red Mill.

  • 2 pm - Stroll Downtown Clinton and browse the quaint shops along with the Mill grounds and the Hunterdon Art Gallery.

  • 5 pm - Relax back at the inn and enjoy gentle breezes on our front veranda after your day of walking.

  • 6 pm - Dinner out—maybe at one of the more upscale in-town restaurants tonite. Try Matt's Red Rooster Grill or 55 Main. We will gladly make you a reservation.

  • After dinner - It's Friday night! From Memorial through Labor Day take a quick drive into Lambertville for 'Lights on the River', an exciting fireworks display beginning at 9:30pm. Grab a coffee at Lambertville Trading and stroll to the Bridge for the perfect view!

Day 2, Saturday

  • 9 am - Another creative, freshly prepared breakfast at Main Street Manor.

  • After breakfast - Discover 'the other Jersey Shore' along the Hunterdon & Bucks county river banks. Awaken your inner explorer with a peaceful paddle in a kayak via Paddlecreek. For a full day's fun and a slightly more energetic experience, try a 'tube built for two' with

  • Delaware River Tubing (lunch included!).

  • OR, if you feel like shopping, head to the Golden Nuggett Flea Market (open Saturdays & Sundays!) to hunt for treasures you didn't know you needed—there's something for everyone here! Swing by Jamie Hollander's on your way out of the area for some grab-&-go (or eat-in) gourmet goodies!

  • 1 pm - Take River Road into Solebury and visit Solebury Orchards for berry, flower, pear or apple picking, in season. They have a neat farm stand there where you can get the best apple juice and some amazing home-grown treats in-season!

    Then follow Creamery Road to Mechanicsville Road and be sure to stop at Carousel Lavender Farm. The farm, with its fieldstone farmhouse, 18th century stone barn and rolling fields broken only by fieldstone walls, truly replicate the South of France with over 15,000 organically grown lavender plants. Bring your camera and treat your senses to a stop at this amazing place!

  • 4:30 pm - Don't miss our Saturday 'expanded afternoon tea' and a chance to swap stories with inn guests and the innkeepers while enjoying local artisanal and home made lite fare. What we feature is always paired with local amazing wine from Unionville Vineyards. The wine is always available and complimentary!

  • 7:30 pm, dinner time - Looking for something really special? Try Marsha Brown restaurant- you'll need a reservation. Or for something more casual check out Bowman's Tavern and plan on staying late for the entertainment in the piano lounge. Stroll the town a bit after dinner—the shoppes stay open late for your convenience!

  • After dinner, Saturday night - Drive back to the inn via the free bridge and stop at the Boat House for an after dinner drink.

Day 3 - Sunday

  • 9 am- We promise to continue to WOW you with our skip-lunch breakfast.

  • 11 am - A must-stop at the County's oldest farm, now host to the best Farmers Market in the area, The Dvoor Farm Market!

    Sample some amazing fresh-picked organic varieties of your favorite fruits & vegetables and check out the many stands offering fresh eggs, home baked pies, breads, poultry, farm raised meat and fresh flowers. Let us know you're stopping there and we'll send you with some ice and a cooler!

    Drive West via Route 12 and stop in Frenchtown to browse neat antique shops, great galleries, and Liz Gilbert (of Eat, Pray, Love fame) store, Two Buttons. Stroll the bridge in Frenchtown and drink in the beauty of the Delaware River. Continue West into the Town of Milford to Buzzing Acres Farm and Tassot Apiaries as you visit the "Bee Farm" and meet the alpaca and the most colorful variety of chickens on this lovely 10 acre property. Here you can purchase bee-related products from the Tassot's such as all kinds of honey, beeswax candles and handmade soaps, all of which are produced at the farm. Not far away, also in Milford, is Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse where they raise cows, make their own cheese and the most wonderful artisan breads baked in a brick oven. Take a tour of the farm along with a cheese and bread tasting and browse the bakehouse & barn shop for other cool must-have's and locally made items.

  • 5 pm - Stop for an early dinner while in Milford, either at the Oyster House (where the focus is on local ingredients and you guessed it-oysters!) or at New Jersey's oldest brew-pub, The Ship Inn http://www.britishbrewpub.com/ for some authentic British fare. Either spot offers great food in a comfy, casual setting.

  • 8 pm - Tuck-inn with a glass of wine or cup of tea on the front veranda or fireside. Borrow a book, play a board game or make a puzzle and enjoy the serenity of the inn on a Sunday evening!

Day 4 - Monday

  • 9 am - One more great breakfast

  • 11 am - Enjoy a bit more antiquing, visit a museum, play a round of golf or take a balloon ride!

    • Antiquing- Downtown Somerville for New Jersey's largest antiques center, boasting 220 different dealers in two shops with half a dozen specialty sections right in the center of town offering every sort of antique and collectible imaginable! Stop by Alphonso's Trottoria for a tasty lunch.

    • Museum- A short drive into Doylestown will take you to the Mercer and Fonthill Museum. Tour the unique mansions filled with antiques and decorative tiles, the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works. The town of Doylestown offers many choices for a mid-day snack or lunch.

    • Golf- Play a round at Heron Glen Golf Course, just 10 minutes from the inn. Its a well-cared for public course which is challenging to play. Pro shop & cafe.

    • Ballooning- Fly above the treetops and amazing Hunterdon County in a basket with the lovely folks at Dancing On Air Balloon Adventures.

    • Take flight and later enjoy champagne and snacks to recount your adventure with your pilot. What a memorable way to end your stay in the Country!

  • Dinnertime - Stroll to nearby Orvieto Italian Restaurant for dinner or take a short drive into Lambertville for dinner with the locals at Bell's Tavern!

  • After dinner - Relax back at the inn under the stars on the front veranda or perhaps in our hammock for two in the yard.

Departure - Tuesday

  • 9 am - Your last breakfast with us and a chance to get a recipe or two from Donna!

  • 11 am - Checkout and goodbyes

Some other options:

  • Shoppers - Substitue hikes or nature jaunts with a trip to Peddlers Village in nearby Lahaska, Penn's Purchase or Liberty Village Outlet Center right here in Flemington.

  • Lovers of Art & Culture - Check out the many galleries and performances happening in neighboring towns or visit Princeton and stroll the University grounds and upscale shopping in-town.

  • Beer Geeks - Don't miss The Ship Inn, River Horse, Triumph Brewery or Long Valley Pub.

  • Knitters - The Woolly Lamb, The Spinnery Twist Knitting and Spinning are all nearby!

  • Quilters - Kindred Quilts of Clinton & Pennington Quilt Works are great local resources.

  • Cheese fans - Check out Bobolink Dairy, Hun-Val Farm & Valley Shepherd Creamery.

  • Wine-o's - Unionville Vineyards, Old York Cellars, Hopewell Valley Vineyards, Terhune Orchards & Winery & Alba Vineyards are all within 20 minutes of the inn!
