Breakfast and Tea
We are serious about the quality of food we serve our guests and our menus change seasonally. Eggs come fresh weekly from Buzzing Acres Farm, meats from a nearby butcher; poultry from Griggstown Farm & Market and wildflower honey from Tassot Apiaries. The inn's breakfast breads and 'tea-time' cheeses are handmade locally by Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse. All year long, the Inn's menus abound with fresh herbs, berries, fruits and organic vegetables. As members of the Honey Brook Organic Farm, a community supported organic farm located in Pennington, NJ, we take pride in serving locally grown, seasonal fruits and vegetables from May through November. We have belonged to the farm for 15 years and local, fresh, organic & 'Jersey Fresh' best describes who we are where food is concerned! Pre-packaged mixes or flavor enhancing preservatives are never found in our kitchen.
Our style of cooking is very simple and straightforward. We strive to use fresh, locally grown and organic foods to ensure not only healthy meals, but the best in flavor. Each day breakfast at Main Street Manor starts with a blended juice, french vanilla yogurt with fresh fruit and sometimes we add a seasonal twist. 'Seattle's Best' brewed coffee and a selection of English and Herbal teas are offered for early risers at 7:30 AM. Our main entrées have included Egg Nog French Toast, Apple, Brie and Bacon Strata with Rosemary and Marjoram or Walnut Sweet Potato Pancakes with warm Maple Syrup. We alternate our menus to sweet one day and savory the next, always taking our guests dietary needs into consideration. Main entrees are accompanied by chicken sausage with granny smith apples, maple glazed thick slab bacon or pork & fennel sausage. Fresh herbs are used in our breakfast preparation and oftentimes are harvested from Main Street Manor's own organic herb garden. Vegetarian and vegan guests can be accommodated as well as any other dietary restrictions. Please let us know upon making reservations so we can plan the best possible breakfast for you.
Afternoon Tea (and Coffee) is available from 3pm on and our offerings are always inspired by the time of year or what in the garden is freshest. Our fruit bowl is brimming with healthy treats or enjoy a sweet indulgence freshly made in the Inn's kitchen. Some of our favorites include Blueberry Butter Cake, Pecan Pie Brownies, Double-Chocolate Chip Cookies or our 'Blue Ribbon' Rustic Apple Cake. Spring and Summer brings pitchers of Herbal Iced Tea, Fresh Squeezed Lemonade or Virgin Mojitos; In Fall and Winter enjoy a cup of organic Chai, some Hot Mulled Cider or a Hot Cocoa!
Expanded afternoon tea is served on weekends at 4pm and in the evening guests may enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or cordial. At times we prepare some picky treats as a compliment to our offered aperitifs. Ken's famous heirloom tomato bruschetta is a guest favorite when the Jersey tomatoes are plentiful!
