December 17 – January 31 - Mercer Museum, Doylestown Pa. / Seasonal Exhibit:
Under the Tree: A Century of Holiday Trees and Toys
This season, the Mercer Museum debuts a new holiday tradition – a special exhibit capturing the excitement of Christmas from a child’s point of view. The exhibit features trees decorated to the tastes of earlier eras, from 1860 to 1950, together with some of the toys and games that once delighted children on Christmas mornings. The display draws from private collections, and includes some of the most popular playthings of the Victorian Era through the post-World War II period. Period ornaments and appropriate reproductions adorn the trees, and show the evolution of Christmas traditions.

Sunday, January 15, 2012 OR Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 1pm-4:30pm- Bread Baking Classes with Nina at Bobolink Dairy - Learn to bake bread in the old-world-style with master baker Nina White at Bobolink Dairy.  Bobolink's breads are made from regionally-grown organic grains and other local ingredients. They are cold-risen using natural starters (with a bit of yeast added in a few of the styles), and baked in Bobolink's wood-fired oven. The combination of slow fermentation and intense heat during baking give our breads an extended shelf-life at room temperature.
We took Nina's class last Winter and her knowledge and technique is amazing!  For a fun afternoon of baking and learning from the master-baker herself...don't miss this experience!   Visit Bobolink's website for details and to arrange your class.
